Tellurium Dioxide Product Overview
Tellurium dioxide (TeO2) is a white crystalline powder that is practically insoluble in water and melts at about 733°C. Its crystalline form, paratellurite, has unusually strong acousto-optic properties.
In addition, crystal growers use high-purity TeO2 to grow paratellurite crystals for acousto-optic modulators, deflectors and tunable filters in lasers and imaging. Similarly, glass producers use it in tellurite glasses, which have a high refractive index and transmit infrared light, for optical fibers and amplifiers. It also serves as a starting material for tellurium chemicals and in some phase-change and thermoelectric research.
