Sodium Hydroxide (caustic soda, CAS 1310-73-2), 98–99.5% flakes and pearls or 50% solution, supplied wholesale by Zyntex. Industrial alkali for pulp and paper, alumina, soaps, textiles, water treatment and chemicals. CoA and SDS.
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a white, highly hygroscopic solid supplied as flakes, pearls (prills) or 50% aqueous solution, with a purity of 98–99.5% for solids. It also dissolves in water with strong heat release and forms a very strongly alkaline solution.
In addition, pulp and paper mills use caustic soda for cooking and bleaching, and alumina refineries use it in the Bayer process. Similarly, soap and detergent producers use it to saponify fats, textile producers use it for mercerizing cotton, and water treatment plants use it for pH adjustment. It is also a key reagent in organic and inorganic chemical production, in biodiesel catalysis and, in food grade, as E524.
Furthermore, related alkalis and salts in our range include Sodium Bicarbonate, Potassium Carbonate and Lithium hydroxide.
Typical uses include, for example:
📄 Pulp and Paper
Cooking as well as bleaching chemical.
🏭 Chemical Production
Base for organic as well as inorganic chemistry.
🧼 Soaps and Detergents
Saponification of fats.
💧 Water Treatment
pH adjustment as well as neutralization.

⚠️ Safety & Handling: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage; dissolving it in water releases much heat. Always add it slowly to water, never water to it, and also wear chemical-resistant gloves, face protection and protective clothing. Store in tightly closed containers in a dry place, away from acids and aluminium. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), because it contains the full classification and handling instructions.
Which form of caustic soda should I choose?
Flakes and pearls suit users who dissolve on site, whereas 50% solution suits large consumers with tank storage.
Do you supply food-grade sodium hydroxide?
Yes. Food-grade (E524) as well as technical grades are available.
How can I get a price and documents?
Prices depend on quantity, packaging and destination, so please contact us with your required volume. We then send a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
