Bromelain (pineapple protease, CAS 9001-00-7), 1200–2400 GDU/g, supplied wholesale by Zyntex. Enzyme for meat tenderizing, protein hydrolysis, beer stabilization, nutritional products and cosmetic exfoliants. CoA and SDS.
Bromelain is a mixture of protein-digesting enzymes obtained mainly from the stems of the pineapple plant (Ananas comosus). It is a light yellow to tan powder whose strength is expressed as enzyme activity, typically 1200–2400 GDU/g (gelatin digestion units).
Food producers use it to tenderize meat, to hydrolyze proteins for flavors and to stabilize beer. Producers of nutritional products use it in tablets and capsules, often enteric-coated to protect the enzyme from stomach acid; regulations in each market govern the claims allowed. In some countries, purified bromelain is also used in pharmaceutical products for wound care.
Cosmetic formulators use it in gentle enzyme peels and exfoliating products. Other enzymes in our range include Lactase, and the related plant protease papain.

⚠️ Safety & Handling: May cause allergy or asthma symptoms if inhaled and skin and eye irritation. Avoid dust formation, use local exhaust ventilation and wear respiratory protection, gloves and eye protection. Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place to preserve enzyme activity. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full classification and handling instructions.
What does GDU/g mean?
GDU stands for gelatin digestion units, a standard measure of protease activity. Higher GDU/g means stronger enzyme activity.
How should bromelain be stored?
Keep it cool, dry and tightly closed. Heat and moisture reduce enzyme activity over time.
How can I get a price and documents?
Prices depend on quantity, packaging and destination. Contact us with your required volume to receive a quotation together with the CoA and SDS.
